Note: | The table provides statistical data on violent and property crimes, and on selected crime types. | Among the selected crime types also the rape indicator is included. | In the Slovak statistical classifications, rape usually falls between the so called moral crimes. | However, in foreign countries it is commonly considered a violent crime. | In this table, data on rapes is provided as a separate indicator. | It may be considered a violent crime indicator; however it is not counted within the overall number of violent crimes. | Violent crimes include criminal offences such as murder, robbery, battery, making threats, kidnapping, maltreatment etc. | Property crimes are mainly thefts (from person, burglary, motor vehicle theft etc.), but also acts of damaging property. | The sum of data at regional levels NUTS 2 and NUTS 3 is not equal to the total crime rate for the Slovak Republic. | This is because it is not possible to classify criminal offences registered by the Railway Police, the Military Police, the Corps of Prison and Court Guard, and the Customs Directorate by regions. |
